Apple Intelligence is Now Turned On by Default
Apple’s AI-powered Apple Intelligence is now automatically enabled on supported devices (think iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models). It boosts Siri’s capabilities, lets you create custom emojis, summarizes messages, and even generates images.
But here’s the catch—it eats up around 7GB of storage. If you’re running low on space or just don’t need AI doing all that work for you, you can turn it off by heading to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri.
Visual Intelligence Gets a Boost (For iPhone 16 Users)
If you’re rocking an iPhone 16, you get some cool new camera-powered features:
Event Scanning: Point your camera at a poster or flyer, and your phone can automatically create an event in your calendar. No more typing in dates manually.
Live Object Recognition: Aim your camera at a plant or animal, and it’ll instantly identify it for you. Pretty handy for nature lovers or curious minds.
Smarter Notifications That Are Easier to Manage
Apple has also improved how notification summaries work:
Better Formatting: Summarized notifications now have a different style, making them easier to spot.
Quick Controls on the Lock Screen: You can manage notification summary settings directly from the Lock Screen now.
Temporary Changes for News & Entertainment: Apple temporarily disabled summarized notifications for news and entertainment apps because they weren’t always accurate. They’re working on a fix, though.
Calculator App Brings Back a Small But Useful Feature
For those who use the Calculator app, Apple brought back the Repeat Last Operation function. Now, if you hit the equals (=) button again after calculating something, it’ll repeat the last operation automatically. A small change, but super useful for repetitive calculations.
Security Fixes & Bug Patches
Apple patched over 20 security vulnerabilities in iOS 18.3, closing loopholes in WebKit, CoreMedia, and Passkeys—some of which could have let hackers access data.
On the bug-fix side, Apple finally addressed:
✅ The annoying bug where the keyboard would randomly disappear when using Siri.
✅ A glitch that kept music playing even after you closed Apple Music.Should You Update?
If you’ve got an iPhone that supports iOS 18.3, yes, go for it—especially for the security fixes. While there are no groundbreaking changes, the AI improvements, notification tweaks, and small quality-of-life updates make it worth downloading.
